Sharing Our Research at National and International Conferences

As our Carer-child Bilingual Shared Reading Project progresses, we are delighted to share our research with the wider academic community through conference presentations and research communication events.

Our project findings have been presented at two conferences, providing opportunities to exchange ideas with researchers, educators, and practitioners working in bilingualism, literacy, and child language development.

At the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading (SSSR) Annual Meeting, we presented our poster entitled "Parent-Child Reading and Bilingual Development: Effects on English Vocabulary Knowledge in Chinese-English Bilinguals." The conference provided valuable opportunities to discuss our findings with international researchers and receive constructive feedback that will inform our ongoing analyses and future publications.

We also presented our work at the Forum for Research in Literacy and Language (FRiLL) Annual Conference with the presentation "Unlocking Bilingual Potential: The Effects of Home-Based Bilingual Shared Reading Intervention on Vocabulary Development in Chinese-English Bilingual Children." The presentation highlighted the design and preliminary findings of our home-based bilingual dialogic reading intervention and generated engaging discussions on supporting bilingual children's language development.

They were also shared with the general public through an online seminar "Building enriched learning environments for bilingual language and literacy development" through UCL Institute of Education seminar series Multilingualism and diversity: Impact for education, health and society.

We are grateful for the insightful comments and encouragement received from colleagues and look forward to continuing to share the outcomes of this project through future publications and conference presentations.
