Carer-child Chinese-English Bilingual Shared Reading Project
This project investigated how to harness Chinese-English bilingual language repertoires in carer-child shared reading and promoted bilingual children's dual language competence.
Acknowledgements: This project is funded by the Harmonious Bilingualism Network. This project would not have been possible without the generous support of our funder the Harmonious Bilingualism Network and the invaluable participation of the children and families who took part in the study. We sincerely thank every family for welcoming us into their reading journey and for sharing their time and experiences with us.

Research Focus
This project evaluated the implementation and effects of a carer-child shared reading intervention designed to support both English and home language development among bilingual children aged 5 to 7 years in the UK. This pilot study focused on children whose home language is Chinese. It provided parents with the knowledge, resources, and support needed to engage in bilingual shared reading, thereby promoting bilingual language development and positive home literacy practices.
